July 4th Family Fireworks Festival, Friday, July 4, 2008, 6:00 - 9:15 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1001 North Marquis Highway (intersection of US 15 and US 15 Business), just north of Hartsville, South Carolina. The three-hour festival features a patriotic tribute and performances by local musicians and dance groups. Amusements include pony rides, inflatables, midway games plus hot dog and pie eating contests. Merchandise and food vendors will fill the courtyard. You can be sure there will be plenty of good food. Bring lawn chairs and blankets to relax, but no coolers or alcohol, please. Fireworks at sundown (about 9:15 p.m.). Free admission; $1 parking charge.. If necessary, a rain date is scheduled for Saturday, July 5th. Attendance ranges from 7,000 – 10,000. South Carolina Sweet Potato Festival, Saturday, October 11, 2008, on the Public Square in Downtown Darlington, from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Entertainment, activities, vendors, food, balloon launch, and antique car show. Sponsored by the Pilot Club of Darlington. This one-day event is the longest running festival in the Pee Dee and attracts approximately 22,000 visitors each year! Open to all vendors, subject to application approval. Please return completed vendor application with check to Pilot Club of Darlington, 505 Anderson Drive, Darlington, SC 29532. Society Hill Catfish Festival THIS ANNUAL EVENT HAS NOT BEEN CANCELLED FOR 2007, AS PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED. ORGANIZERS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR PARTICIPATION THIS YEAR. Saturday, November 8, 2008. 5K run/walk at 8 am. Car, truck & motorcycle show from 8-11 am. Parade at 11 am. From 9am-4pm, a full day of entertainment, arts & crafts, games, amusements and food. Held on the grounds of the old St. David's School, on S. Main Street (US 15/52/401). This exciting one-day festival attracts approximately 17,000 visitors from across the region. Open to all vendors, subject to application approval. Please return completed vendor application with check to Town of Society Hill, P.O.Box 2, Society Hill SC 29593. Egg Scramble Jamboree, Friday, March 28 – Saturday, March 29, 2008 in downtown Lamar, South Carolina (on US 401). This two-day festival features arts, crafts, and food vendors (noon until...), carnival (4 - 10 pm), and street dance (6 - 10 pm). Here is some information on other upcoming events, some with vendor opportunities:
- RenoFest Bluegrass Festival (fourth weekend in March, in Hartsville) has limited vendor space filled by the same local vendors each year. No additional vendors are needed at this time.
- Race week at Darlington Raceway, the week before Mother’s Day, May 5 – 10, 2008. All food and souvenirs vendors on raceway property are provided by Americrown Service Corporation in Daytona Beach, Florida. Outside vendors are not allowed. For information, contact Bruce Marion at (386) 947-3800 x 3395.
- The Great Outdoors Tailgate Party, Saturday, July 7, 2007. A Heritage Week event, at the Butler Heritage Foundation/Old Butler High School Gym, 1103 S. Sixth St., Hartsville, SC, on Butler Field (adjacent to the school) following the basketball game at 2:30 p.m., featuring volleyball, horse shoes, softball, bingo, checkers and more. Vendors welcome ($25 fee). For information, contact Barbara Carraway at (843) 383-8852.
- Jazz!Carolina (in early October, in Hartsville) no longer includes a Family Fun Day with vendors, etc. (just the street block party on Friday).
- Sheep to Shawl Day and Ovis Hill Family Farm Festival (second and fourth Saturday in October) is limited to handmade, natural crafts and fiber artists, by invitation only. Sheep shearing and border collie demonstrations, fiber artists, spinners, weavers, wool products, farm-fresh organically grown food, music, Farm Store, pumpkin patch, hay bale maze, games, arts & crafts, animals to visit, cows being milked, etc. Located at Ovis Hill Farm, 1501 Weaver Street, Timmonsville (off SC 403, Oates Highway, between Lamar & Timmonsville). - Coker Farms Fall Festival, (second Saturday in October), 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. See our snowy-white fields of cotton, corn maze, tractor display, historic seed company exhibit, cotton spinning demonstration and enjoy the bluegrass band and a wagon ride. Face painting for the kids. Pumpkins & fall flowers for sale. Free hot dogs and ice cream from 11am - 2pm (or until they run out). Coker Farms National Historic Landmark (former site of the Coker Pedigreed Seed Company), 1257 S. Fourth Street (located on SC 151 Business, just north of US 15/Marquis Highway, across from Wal-Mart Supercenter, Hartsville. A limited number of vendor spaces are available.
